About HFAC and our 2003 partner The Jimmy Fund
The mission of the Hunt for a Cure, Inc. is to raise funds for and partner with a new organization each year that is acknowledged by
the community as a leader in cancer research and patient care.
Since the first scavenger hunt in November 2000 we have been fortunate enough to experience an increase in the number of participants
and dollars raised while also decreasing our overhead expenses. Our goal is to provide low-cost events for family and friends to gather
and have fun while raising money for a cause they believe in. In three short years, the HFAC is proud to have donated over $20,000 to
the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation and the American Cancer Society.
This year, we are embarking on a partnership with The Jimmy Fund and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Since its founding in 1947,
Dana-Farber has been committed to providing cancer patients with the best treatment available today while developing tomorrow's
cures through cutting-edge research.
The mission of Dana-Farber Cancer Institute is to provide expert, compassionate care to children and adults with cancer while
advancing the understanding, diagnosis, treatment, cure, and prevention of cancer and related diseases.
According to SmartMoney magazine,
the DFCI is listed as one of the top nonprofits in the country with respect to operational
efficiency, ensuring that gifts have their intended impact. The Institute consistently donates more than 87 cents of every
dollar to cancer research and patient care. Furthermore, with every dollar raised the DFCI
receives $10 more in crucial grant support.
